When I met the tall, blue-eyed, incredibly attractive young man who would one day become my husband, the guy who pretty much gave me heart palpitations as we talked about bands like Yo La Tengo and Pavement, I never imagined that, years later - specifically, two minutes before presidential candidate Barack Obama’s special 30-minute program was set to air on national television - I’d find him on our living room couch, not watching the political commentary we’ve become so obsessed with lately, but instead immersed in the film version of “Jesus Christ Superstar,” announcing loudly, “This is my favorite song. This one’s MY FAVORITE!”

It was On Demand, and I fast-forwarded to the halfway point….”Damned for All Time/Blood Money”….what could be better than a bunch of hippies dressed as priests with ridiculous hats singing and climbing on scaffolding that, for reasons unknown, is sitting in a barren desert backdrop?

Justin you can watch On Demand later. That’s why it’s called “On Demand.” Or maybe you just need a second TV.

hey…I’m a scientist and I live in Connecticut….I don’t think the Obama special last night was aimed at getting my vote.

Oh my god, Cara. I truly laughed out loud when I read that. I hope all is well.

Kind of sounds like me that night watching Rocky Horror Picture Show for the 100th time and thinking it seemed like a cool commentary on how sick I am of the whole election at the moment. Definitely get a second TV with DVR…we’ve got three of the darn things around the house and about 200 hours of things we’ll never watch.

Funny, my husband is watching Rocky Horror Picture show right now and he keeps telling me, you’re missing the best parts, come out here and watch it with me. You gotta see this. I hate that movie. After writing this I’m going upstairs to the other t.v. and watch HGTV.
And yes, dear hubby has a thing for Jesus Christ Superstar too. He played a leper and a Roman Soldier in a college musical.
